“Branding Journey: Cases from the Cosmetics Industry in Turkey”
Güven Borca, who was born in Eskişehir in 1962, earned a degree from the Industrial Engineering Department of METU. From 1985 to 1986, he worked for the family business, where he established and managed a potato chip manufacturing facility. He decided to pursue a career in the business world after completing his military service and began working as a Product Development Engineer for the İpek Kağıt Karamürsel factory. Güven Borca, who joined the marketing department of the same organization in 1989, spent six years at Colgate-Palmolive, where he was relocated in 1991, holding the positions of Brand Manager and Marketing Manager. Throughout the same time period, he authored brand-related articles, delivered speeches, and conducted trainings. In 1997, he commenced employment as a brand consultant. He is the proprietor of the inaugural brand consulting firm in Turkey, Markam AŞ. with over two decades of experience, Markam has furnished consulting services to over 150 organizations. www.markam.com Güven Borca has fifteen years of experience instructing Brand Communication Management at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Anadolu University. The title of his debut novel is “Can a Global Brand Emerge from These Lands?” Since its initial publication in June 2002, it has undergone fourteen editions in total. Between 2001 and 2003, he contributed frequently to the weekly Para magazine with the title “After Advertisements” on marketing issues. His compilation of these articles appeared in a book of the same name. Marketing Recipes, No Other Akmerkez, Marketing Recipes, Brand and Management, Upcycling Box, and Honey Hazelnut are among his additional works.
